A Paris Guide to: Fête de la Musique

On June 21, France is decked out in its finest instruments to celebrate music. The first Music Festival was organized on June 21, 1982, with the aim of allowing all musicians to express themselves and to be known. Since then, every year on the occasion of the summer solstice, France celebrates music thanks to numerous free concerts and DJ sets organized outdoors, but also in concert halls and museums in Paris and the Ile-de-France region. This year, we celebrate the 40th edition of the Fête de la Musique!

Pyramid of the Louvre

Enjoy a free concert of the Orchestre de Paris and its musical director Klaus Mäkelä in one of the emblematic places of the capital: the Louvre pyramid. Entrance is free from 10pm, but reservations are required (available from June 14th) 

Saint Eustache

After 3 years of absence, let’s meet again at Saint Eustache for this musical event in this magnificent church in the heart of Paris. On the program, 36 hours of free concerts you will find artists such as Cléa Vincent, Barbara Carlotti, Clara Ysé, Kyrie Kristmanson, Chien noir, Blondino or Laura Cahen and Form.

L’Albar

4 rue Poissonnière, 75002 Paris

Come and listen to Fader in the restaurant Albar to enjoy a DJ Set with a Deep House sound. Enough to make you want to do some groovy dance steps. 

Le Carreau du Temple

4 rue Eugène Spuller, 75003 Paris

Free concert from 8pm

Once again, the Carreau du Temple welcomes the Carreau du Temple brass band to perform original compositions by Fidel Fourneyron, trombonist and tuba player of the Orchestre National de Jazz, who also directs the band.

The Swedish Institute

11 rue Payenne, 75003 Paris

Free entrance from 5:30 pm

The garden of the Swedish Institute proposes you to discover Isabel Sörling, a Swedish singer of French folk music. Just before she performs, you can enjoy a Midsommar dance, the famous ancestral tradition that marks the beginning of summer. Every year, during Midsommar, the Swedes erect a flower pole around which people dance and sing, wearing a crown of flowers. 

Shoah Memorial

17 rue Geoffroy l’Asnier, 75004 Paris

In front of the Shoah Memorial, you will be invited to discover classical music and traditional music from Eastern Europe performed by the Sirba Octet. The Sirba Octet is a group of 8 musicians, most of whom are members of the Orchestre de Paris. They will perform Yiddish, Klezmer and Gypsy songs.

Place de l’Hôtel de Ville

Place de l’Hôtel de Ville, 75004 Paris

Afro-Caribbean atmosphere in front of the Hôtel de Ville de Paris. For the Music Festival 2021, the sounds of Zamunda Afro Caribbean will resound from 3pm. Then will follow DJ Skety, Loy G, Pilasom, Peet, Momento and PG for an atmosphere of zouk, Hip Hop, Kompa and much more!

Arènes de Lutèce

49 rue Monge, 75005 Paris

Entrance free but need to reserve ahead of time, ticketing is already open.

In partnership with the radio FIP and the city hall of Paris. The Arènes de Lutèce invites many artists to make us live a unique experience. The famous British rocker Peter Doherty, the French rock band Last Train, but also the electro pop sextet L’Impératrice, the French-Italian songwriter Piers Faccini will all be there.

Irish Cultural Center

5 rue des Irlandais, 75005 Paris

This year, the Centre Culturel Irlandais is partnering with the Embassy of Ireland in France, the Embassy of Senegal in France, the Embassy of France in Ireland, and the Cork Midsummer Festival to bring you an eclectic music festival.

Eugène Delacroix National Museum

Free 30-minute concert at 7:30 pm, 8 pm and 8:30 pm

The Eugène-Delacroix National Museum in Paris invites you to experience a unique and free musical moment around film music thanks to the “Ariane Serck trio”. The public will rediscover the music of Princess Mononoke, Into the Wild or Spartacus. 

La Rhumerie

The group 7idylle takes us dancing at the Rhumerie in the heart of Mabillon! The titles of the sun are revisited by 2 singers surrounded by musicians who will manage to make you dance all night. The Caribbean atmosphere in Saint Germain-des-Prés is waiting for you!

Quai Anatole France

Free Open Air 

Sacré Radio offers you an electro program that promises to be very danceable. The quays of the Seine welcome this open air which promises a beautiful atmosphere and ebullient artists with in particular in the menu Phantom traffic in live, and Baz and Basses in back to back.

Museum of the army

The Hôtel des Invalides invites you to discover its collections with music.  During the day and at night, musical interludes will accompany visitors on their journey for an exceptional experience.  

Gardens of the Espace Cardin – Théâtre de la Ville

1 avenue Gabriel, 75008 Paris

Come and vibrate to the rhythm of the music performed by the Brass Band of the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris. Throughout the afternoon, this Brass Band, composed of Gilles Bertocchi on the horn, Adrien Ramon on the trumpet and Augustin Barré on the tenor trombone, will perform classical and less classical pieces, paying a vibrant tribute to Paris.

Petit Palais

Karaoke lover? Come to the Bassin de la Villette for a unique experience: a karoke on the water with Häagen-Dazs. Fans of the film and musical Mamma Mia! will be able to climb into boats in groups of 6 and revisit Abba’s classics to their heart’s content while following the screens provided for this purpose. La Rotonde

On the occasion of the fête de la musique on June 21st, Trax invites you to the Rotonde Stalingrad, in Paris, for 13 hours of house music in club and open air. Free DJ sets will follow one another on the square of the building at the end of the afternoon.
